Abstract

In Gölcük Navy Hospital, transposition rhomboid flap was applied to 106 pilonidal sinus cases between February 1991-September 1993.

Average length of stay in hospitat in post-operative period was 9.4 days. Two hematomas under skin flap and two incisional abcesses were observed. The rate of complication was 3.8%.

Average follow-up duration is 15 months. One third of our cases (34 patients) were followed for 2 years or longer. At present, we have no recurrence.

In conclusion, transposition rhomboid flap, one of the plasty techniques which have frequently been used in treatment of pilonidal sinus, seems to be a reliable alternative.
