Abstract

Purpose: In treatment of end-stage liver disease, living donor liver transplantation has been widely performed especially in countries where there is shortage of deceased donors. In this article, we present, the results of 200 right lobe living donor liver transplantations in a single center. Materials and Methods: Two hundred right lobe living donor liver transplantation performed in our centre are retrospectively evaluated. The data consisted of the patients' age, sex, BMI, MELD, Child score, primary disease, operation time, blood transfusion, duration of hospitalization, morbidity and mortality. Results: The patients consisted of 152 men and 48 women. As a mean scale; age was 50.7 (16-72), MELD score was 17.2 (4-47), hospitalization duration was 19.2 days (10-98 days) and follow-up duration was 27.3 months (4-70 months). Fifty-one (25.5%) patients died during the follow-up period. Twenty-five (12.5%) reoperations were required. Biliary problems were the most common complications. There was no donor mortality or life threatening complication. Conclusion: Right lobe living donor liver transplantation in Turkey is a very effective and donor-safe treatment option for patients who do not have a chance to receive a cadaveric graft.
