Abstract

29 patients were scheduled for gasiess laparoscopic surgery in the Sixth Surgical Clinic cf Ankara Numune Hospital during 1994-1995. The success rate was 72.42%. 4 cases (13.79%) were converted to conventional laparoscopic surgery and other 4 cases (13.79%) were converted re open surger/. In the £ cases (75%), gasless laparoscopy failed secause & inadequate view. The procedures performed bv this technique 1.6 were cholecystectomy, and 5 hydatic cyst surgery.

The mean operation period was 74.3±38.63 min. for cholecystectomy, and 87±11.51 mm. for hydatic cyst surgery. Postoperative hospital stay was 3.79±6.87 days for cholecystectomy and 5.2±2.05 days for hydatic cyst. Intraabdominal abcess developed In one case, and one patient died of sepsis and disseminated intravascular coagulapathy (DIC) due to liver cirrhosis.

in this study it has been shown that gasless laparoscopic technique is a safe and applicable alternative method to conventional laparoscopic surgery in some selected patients.
