Abstract

In order to find out the value of the selective intraoperative cholangiography, 160 patients who underwent cholecystectomy were reviewed retrospectively. In this evaluation, clinical symptoms, radiographic studies, biochemical tests and operation findings are used. The selective intraoperative cholangiography is performed on 33 patients. We considered ubnormal cholangiography as the enlargment of common bile duct more than 12 mm in diameter, the presence of filing defect in duct, the defect of contrast medium passage to duodenum, lack of flow of contrast medium and demonstrating the terminal narrow segment of common bile duct. According to these findings, 25 of our patients had normal and 7 had abnormal cholangiography. On exploration, common bile duct stone was found in four patients, sludge in one patient, and nothing found in one patient pathologically. Positive result is found in 87,5 percent of cases and false positive result is found in 14.2 percent of cases. The rate of false-negative result is 3 percent. Alkalen phosphatase values as of 23.2 percent, total bilirubin values as of 26.7 percent and sign of abnormal dilated common bile duct as of 31.3 percent had diagnostic criteria.
