Abstract

Cadaveric kidneys are hope for a comfortable life for end stage renal failure patients. During the past 13 months, 24 brain stem death patients' relatives were asked for family consent for organ donation; no more than 6 families in 24 gave legal acquiescence for donor nephrectomy. Four kidneys could not be used - three due to poor perfusion, one to rupture; five kidneys were transported to other transplantation units mean while three kidneys were successfully transplanted to end stage renal failure patients in our hospital.
